The duty to pay child support may be terminated administratively through CSED or judicially through the courts.  Emancipation of the child is the most common reason to terminate child support. 

Other reasons may be death of the child or the parent who was paying child support for the child; adoption of the child but any arrears are still owed; deportation of the child, or the child gets married.
